Jeran Ogres

Ogres are tribal humanoids of about 7-8' in height. The males are predominantly hunters, while the females take care of the young and the home. They most often live in mountain caves, though some tribes wander the desert plains throughout Asterland.

They have a dislike for the powers of Chaos, mostly because they don't understand them, and partially due to the history of the Ogres with the forces of chaos, where they were used in past wars as little more than cannon fodder. They have no love of humans, seeing them more as the prey to be fed upon than as equals.

Most Ogres tend to be rather dim by human standards, though some of their number attain to at least human intellegence. They are strong and muscular and very good hunters, though not very clever.

They tend to collect in communities, where some very elaborate dwell- ings are made of simple caverns. They have wood fronts enclosing the space and keeping out the wind, usually with a stovepipe sticking out the wooden wall. The places are homey and comfortable. They tend to be decorated in indian style art with furs on the wooden floors. The ceilings are usually left rock, though sometimes the walls are covered in wooden planks. The places are warmed with wood stoves and often there will be a large stock of wood in the cave for the winters, which tend to be hard in the mountains. They dry meat in large quantities, the result of raiding human herds of cows and sheep, storing it for the winter. During the colder months ogres tend to spend time at home and making weapons. The tribe really comes to life during these months, where much time is spent in the tribal lodges preforming rituals reminiscent of the American indians.

Indeed their whole society is much like it, though only the males are nomadic, leaving for months at a time during the warmer months to hunt for food and to raid human villages for stock. Trade for the ogres in done in human coin or in meat and furs.

They are easily impressed by magic, though they will not often trade for it unless they have enough stores of furs and food for the winter.

Their families are very important to them, and frills are to come after the necessities of life are cared for. They have an appreciation for good weapons, especially magical ones. These are seen more or less as necessities, so they are prized highly.
